Mental Health Care Plan
How to get one?
Steps to getting a mental health care plan
-
Go to your local GP or family doctor.
-
Describe to them your concerns and that you would like to access a psychologist as part of a Mental Health Care Plan
-
Provide them with the details on where you would like to be referred to.
-
They can either print or send it through to you.
-
Send the plan through to us to make sure all the information required is present.

Some GP's may ask you to be already engaged with a psychologist before they write you a MHCP. If this is the case, please state this in your intake and we will work together to acquire one.

How much do I get back?
After each one-hour session, the rebate for a psychology session is $93.35

The hourly rate of the psychologist will determine the amount you pay out of pocket. At Nostos Psychology Clinic, an hour session with a psychologist is $200. Therefore, the total out-of-pocket cost is $106.65
How does a Mental Health Care Plan work?
Once we have the MHCP referral, we can begin our therapeutic sessions. However, the MHCP is only for 6 sessions initially. Once the first 6 sessions have been delivered, both the client and practitioner must agree further sessions are required. If they agree, then the psychologist is required to write a letter to the referring GP with a general update and request a referral for the remaining 4 sessions. The client must revisit the referring GP and also request the remaining 4 sessions.
